This was a great Colorado dog photography session with sweet Lana in and around her Longmont digs.
I loved it because we started at pretty much every pets favorite spot: their home. We photographed in a variety of spaces, all of which Lana already knew. This helps make pets like Lanahappier and more confident during our Colorado dog photography session.
When I arrive at a home, I may not immediately shove a camera into the face of your dog or cat. I like to say hello and ease into a session, especially since not all dogs and cats love a camera.
Once I said hello to Lana in her Longmont home, I started taking photos. These included her chilling in the living room in her favorite places–her chair and dog bed. I try to photograph from angles that minimize any mess and clutter in a home so that you don’t need to worry too much about cleaning your home! I also prefer that all the lights are turned off and window blinds/curtains are open.
We then headed into the backyard to get a few action portraits. Lana was a little confused about what I was doing, so having some toys and play time offer a distraction.
Once Lana got out some zoomies, we took her on a walk along her normal neighborhood trail to a creek. Again, the walk is good because it provides a distraction for your pets to forget about me and be more themselves.
After taking outdoor portraits on the walk, we headed back to Lana’s Longmont home to take more outdoor portraits. This time we utilized her front porch and amazing brick/rock home siding. We finished the Colorado dog photography back in the home–Lana listened to her dad play guitar.
